Modern House Numbers
When completing a new build or renovation, don’t forget to think about the final piece de resistance – your house numbers.
House numbers are of course functional, you want the postie and visitors to find you easily, but they’re also an opportunity to make a statement and set the tone for the rest of your beautiful abode. You could think of them as outdoor artwork, for the front of your house. Artwork that many more people will see, than the ones hanging on the inside walls.
Illuminated House Numbers tick all the boxes - easy to see, modern and statement making!
But, here’s what to consider when deciding what’s right for you.
What style is the house?
For me, this is less about the exact Australian architectural style (Victorian, Edwardian, Art décor, Californian bungalow etc) and more about the feel you want to give your home. For example, a Victorian terraced townhouse can have a very traditional feel to it, or you can easily give it a modern feel, simply by the paint and accessories (like your mailbox and house numbers) you choose.
Position
Where will the numbers be positioned? Commonly on the exterior wall, front door, or perhaps on a front wall/fence, gate or pillar.
Horizontal or vertical
This often feeds into the position they are located in. Vertical house numbers look great on the wall to the side of a front door, whereas horizontals are probably more common for a front wall/fence. See the main image above for examples.
To light or not to light
Well of course here at LIGHTLetter we would always say – Light! Despite making them much, much easier for people to see at night, illuminated house numbers will bring that modern feel you’re looking for, simply by adding one simple element.
Our LED House numbers are fixed straight onto a wall, pillar or plaque. Electrical wiring is inserted through the wall, just like with any exterior light or doorbell. So, if you’re considering metal numbers or a metal plaque with a downward light above to illuminate them, then think about LED House numbers instead.
